Plants need three main nutrients for growth known as the primary macronutrients): nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). Nitrogen promotes leafy growth. Phosphorus is necessary for flowers, fruit, strong roots, and seed development. Potassium helps plants withstand stress and is crucial for cell growth and carbohydrate metabolism.

Derived from: Feather Meal
Feather meal is a slow-releasing all-natural fertilizer made from hydrolyzed, dried, and ground poultry feathers. Feathers are made of keratin, a fibrous protein, rich in nitrogen. It may take microbes 30 to 45 days to convert the complex nitrogen source into a form plants can use. This means no burning plants and a more steady supply of nitrogen is available over the course of the growing season. With that in mind, it is best to apply this fertilizer before planting. Feather meal is perfect for heavy feeders and long-season crops.
Directions for Use: Apply approximately 5 pounds (lbs.) per 100 square feet of soil for new gardens. For existing gardens:
For new transplants, add 1-2 tablespoons per plant. For established plants and shrubs, side dress 2-4 ounces once a month during the growing season. For containers add 1-2 tablespoons per gallon of soil monthly for established plants. For fortifying potting soils and seed starting mixes, add 2 tablespoons per gallon of soil.
Note: A dust mask is recommended for applying dry fertilizer. Also, keep bag closed and stored in dry area.
