Beekeeping Workshop at the Mindful Farmer Homestead

Join us for a hands-on beekeeping workshop at the Mindful Farmer homestead in Conway, Arkansas. Whether you’re a curious beginner or looking to get more confident working your own hives, this immersive class will walk you through both the theory and the practice of small-scale, sustainable beekeeping in Arkansas.
What to Expect:

Classroom Session (1.5 hours)
We’ll cover hive types, honeybee biology, seasonal hive management in Arkansas, common issues, and how to troubleshoot them, and what a “typical” year of beekeeping looks like here in the South. -
Lunch Break (30 minutes)
Enjoy a light lunch with drinks, including garden-fresh teas and locally roasted coffee. -
In-Hive Experience (2 hours)
Get suited up and work bees in our backyard hives! Participants will have the chance to open active colonies, identify brood and queens, and observe real-time hive behavior. We'll also extract honey, and each participant will take home a bottle of fresh, raw honey—harvested that day.

Take home printed handouts and reference materials to guide your beekeeping journey
What to Bring:

Bee suit or veil if you have one (we’ll have a few extras on hand)

Closed-toe shoes and light-colored long sleeves are recommended, also a hat, and be prepared for a warm summer day

Note: Some experienced beekeepers attend veil-free. However, this is at your own risk. If you are allergic to bees, we do not recommend attending.
