Parboiled Rice Hulls - OMRI Listed - (Pickup Only)
PICKUP ONLY
Parboiled rice hulls are a clean, renewable alternative to perlite for growers who want excellent drainage without the dust. Lightweight and carbon-rich, they create air space in your potting mix while still helping retain consistent moisture around the root zone.
These hulls are heat-treated to eliminate viable weed seeds, making them safe for greenhouse, nursery, and garden use. They can make up to one-third of your potting mix by volume, improving structure without significantly tying up nitrogen during a typical crop cycle. You can also apply directly to garden soil or raised beds to lighten heavy soils. I will use up to 1/2 bale per 100-ft bed.
Beyond blending into soil, rice hulls can also be used as bedding for chicks or growing substrate for mushrooms.
Because rice hulls increase surface airflow, the top layer of soil may dry more quickly than the root zone below. Monitor moisture carefully and avoid overwatering.
OMRI Listed and approved for certified organic production.
A practical choice for growers looking to build biologically active, well-aerated growing systems without relying on mined inputs.
